We are now patiently, or not so patiently, waiting to start getting information on little girls to choose from in the Ukraine.  We are excited to finally put a face on the prayers we've been sending up!  Thank you and bless you all, for the prayers that you have sent up for our family and this adoption process.  It has taken many people and answered prayers to get this far, and we could not have done it without you!

Just to give you an idea of how many people:  Last week we found out we needed "one more form" for the dossier in the Ukraine.  John and I rushed over to the bank to have the form signed by us and notarized.  My dad, who happened to be visiting, took the form back to Salem with him and kindly stood in line to get the form authenticated/apostilled.  Then my dad took the form to my brother, Jeff, who so nicely scanned the form and emailed it to me (so I could email it to our agency).  Then Jeff dropped the form off with my mom, who will bring it back up to my house with her, when she visits on Friday!

Kisses in the Wind: Author Unknown

I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.
You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.

I know you wonder where we are.. what's taking us so long.
But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.

Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...
Because tonight just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.
I promise you my darling, I'm doing all that I can do.

Very soon you'll have a family for real, not just pretend.
But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.

May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.
And let angels bring the kisses that I send to you each night.

10 More Days!

John and I are so truly amazed at all of your heartfelt donations!  Thank you again!

Information for a Tax Receipt:
We had tried to use a foundation that creates an account for adoption donations and gives people a tax receipt, but they did not work with our adoption agency and they were the only ones we found who did that.

Today, I just learned that it is possible to write a check to our agency's donation account and they will be able to put it in an account specifically for our adoption costs and send a tax receipt letter back to you.

I am really sorry that I did not have this information before we started, but it's not too late.  If you would like a tax receipt, we will gladly give you back your money and you can follow the steps below to receive a tax receipt letter of donation.  Please email me or post a comment and we'll work out the details.

Here are the directions to receive a tax receipt letter:

Make out a check to: A Child's Embrace
Then on the "for" line write: Lisa/John Scharosch

Then mail the check to:
Kids to Adopt
2012 Broadway St.
Vancouver, WA 98663

They will mail a tax receipt letter back to you.  Please call them if you have any questions at (360) 695-1704.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience!  We've learned that there are many bumps and pot holes on our adoption journey!!  If you donate with a check to our adoption agency before the 10 day deadline, you will still be entered in the WorldMark Resort Weekend Giveaway.

Here We Go.

If you know me at all, you will know that I am not the blogger type...if there is such a thing.  I love to read other people's blogs, but have never had a desire to have one of my own.  As I come to find out, if you take one step out in faith there is another step to follow that one and soon you are down a path that you could never foresee yourself on.  So here I sit, creating a blog that I never thought I would; to tell you about the journey that I have found myself on, and to document it....so I don't forget it.

Around Easter time, I was blog hopping and found one which brought me face to face with the realities that orphans from other countries are faced with.  I was particularly drawn to the Ukraine that has over 100,000 orphans!  If that wasn't enough, my heart completely broke when I saw many faces of children with Down Syndrome (D.S.) that at age 4 would be sent to adult mental institutions for the rest on their lives.  Most will not survive their first year there.  I saw a picture of a boy that looked very much like my son, who has D.S., and thought of what his life would have been like if he had been born in the Ukraine.

I wrestled with my emotions, my selfishness of my time and my comfort.  In the end, all I could feel God saying was "you can save one, it's just one more".  He had already planted the seed of love in my heart for her and the tears I cried at the computer watered it, and it took root.  So, I told my husband (thinking that he would bring clarity and tell me I was crazy, then I could feel like I had given it a good try and get back to my already full life) but instead he said, "Let's do it!"  God had given us both a heart for one more.

We had no idea about the process of adoption, looking back now that was probably a good thing!  We have just completed our last paper in a long list of papers that will now all need to be notarized locally, then authenticated with the county, and THEN take a trip down to the capitol building to get yet another seal of approval: the apostille.  All will be boxed up pretty and sent to the Ukraine and then after they are satisfied with all of the papers, will invite us to visit their country.

Now it has come to the time when we are not focusing so much on the paper work, but realizing that we need to raise enough money to finish this adoption!  We needed to create a place to share our information, as we know others have a desire to help save a little girl from the fate she was born into.  Thanks for taking this journey with us!
